أعلن السفير الأميركي لدى بيروت، ميشال عيسى، استمرار دعم الولايات المتحدة للبنان ومؤسساته، خلال لقائه رئيس الجمهورية جوزاف عون في قصر بعبدا، عقب عودته من واشنطن.
وتناول اللقاء التطورات الراهنة، ولا سيما ملف تثبيت وقف إطلاق النار ووقف استهداف المدنيين والمنشآت، تمهيداً لاستكمال الاجتماعات في واشنطن بهدف تحقيق الاستقرار على الحدود. من جهته، شكر عون الدعم الأميركي المتواصل للبنان.
كما التقى عيسى رئيس الحكومة نواف سلام في السرايا، حيث جرى البحث في تثبيت وقف إطلاق النار والمحادثات المرتبطة بالتفاوض مع إسرائيل.
في موازاة ذلك، أفادت معلومات بأن مساعي ترتيب زيارة لعون إلى الولايات المتحدة مجمّدة حالياً، وسط مخاوف من عدم تحقيق أي مكاسب واضحة في ملفي وقف إطلاق النار والانسحاب. وبحسب المصدر، أبلغ الجانب الأميركي عون بعدم وجود ضمانات لوقف شامل لإطلاق النار قبل الزيارة، وأن مسألة الانسحاب ستبقى ضمن إطار التفاوض.
The US ambassador to Beirut, Michel Issa, affirmed continued US support for Lebanon and its institutions during his meeting with President Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace, following his return from Washington.
The meeting addressed current developments, particularly the issue of تثبيت the ceasefire and halting the targeting of civilians and infrastructure, in preparation for continuing meetings in Washington aimed at achieving stability along the border. For his part, Aoun thanked the United States for its ongoing support to Lebanon.
Issa also met Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at the Grand Serail, where discussions focused on تثبيت the ceasefire and talks related to negotiations with Israel.
At the same time, information indicated that efforts to arrange a visit by Aoun to the United States are currently frozen, amid concerns over the lack of clear gains regarding the ceasefire and withdrawal issues. According to the source, the US side informed Aoun that there are no guarantees for a comprehensive ceasefire before the visit, and that the withdrawal issue will remain within the framework of negotiations.
