كشف مصدر سياسي كشف لـجريدة "المدن" أن الأفكار المصرية المقدمة إلى الحزب تراوحت بين إعادة إحياء نموذج احتواء السلاح، والتوصل إلى صيغة تمنع استخدامه لفترة محددة، وصولاً إلى وضعه تحت سلطة الدولة وفق آلية تطبيقية يتفق عليها، على أن يترافق ذلك مع إلزام إسرائيل بتنفيذ ما عليها من بنود، وفي مقدمتها الانسحاب إلى الخط الأزرق وتسليم جميع الأسرى المدنيين والعسكريين. غير أن الإشكالية الأساسية، بحسب المصدر، تمثلت في غياب آلية واضحة لكيفية إلزام إسرائيل بتطبيق البنود، فضلاً عن عدم توضيح ما إذا كانت القاهرة قد نسّقت هذه الأفكار مع تل أبيب أو مع الأميركيين.
أما العقدة الأكبر، فتتمثل في استمرار وجود جيش الاحتلال على الأراضي اللبنانية، مع تهديداته باستئناف العمليات العدوانية. وفي المحصلة، ردّ الحزب على الطرح المصري بأسلوب دبلوماسي، مشيراً إلى ربط الملف اللبناني بالملف الإيراني، وانتظار ما ستؤول إليه التطورات الميدانية، على أن يجري التفاوض لاحقاً مع رئيس مجلس النواب نبيه بري.
A political source told Al-Modon newspaper that the Egyptian proposals presented to the party ranged from reviving a model of containing weapons, to reaching a formula that would prevent their use for a specified period, and ultimately placing them under state authority through an agreed implementation mechanism. This would be accompanied by obligating Israel to fulfill its commitments, foremost among them withdrawing to the Blue Line and handing over all civilian and military detainees.
However, according to the source, the main issue lies in the absence of a clear mechanism to compel Israel to implement these terms, in addition to the lack of clarity on whether Cairo coordinated these proposals with Tel Aviv or the United States.
The biggest obstacle, however, remains the continued presence of Israeli forces on Lebanese territory, along with threats to resume military operations. In response, the party addressed the Egyptian proposal in a diplomatic manner, indicating a linkage between the Lebanese file and the Iranian file, and awaiting the outcome of field developments before entering negotiations later with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
